Agustín Escobar joined Siemens Spain in 1998 as Head of Sales and Project Management for Power Automation Systems. Over the years, his keen insight into market dynamics and relentless pursuit of innovation saw him take on increasingly significant roles. Between 2010 and 2014, he served as the Corporate Director of Strategy and International Business Development for Siemens in North America, a role that expanded his global perspective and deepened his understanding of international business strategies.

Leadership in Latin America and Beyond

From 2014 to 2018, Escobar led Siemens’ Energy Management Division and was responsible for managing the Infrastructure & Cities Sector in Latin America. His tenure in this capacity was marked by his ability to secure and execute major infrastructure projects, a testament to his leadership and strategic planning.

Steering Siemens Mobility

Following his successful stint abroad, Escobar returned to Spain in 2018 to lead Siemens Rail Automation (SAU) and Siemens Mobility SLU. His vision and execution skills soon propelled him to the role of CEO for Siemens Mobility in the Southwest Europe region. In December 2022, his accomplishments were further acknowledged when he was appointed President and CEO of Siemens Spain, in addition to his leadership role at Siemens Mobility.

On April 10, 2025, the world mourned the untimely loss of Agustín Escobar. He, along with his wife and their three children, tragically died in a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, New York City. The Bell 206 aircraft, which had experienced a mid-air structural failure and lost radar contact at 3:25 p.m. local time, claimed their lives when it crashed, leaving a void in the global mobility and infrastructure community.
