For more than five decades, BDK (Bhanji D. Khimji) has been one of India’s most respected names in industrial valve manufacturing. Established by visionary industrialist Shri Bharat B. Khimji and named in honour of his father, Shri Bhanji D. Khimji, BDK earned an international reputation for engineering excellence, product reliability and technological innovation.
Today, as part of the Khimji Group’s long-term vision to bring all its businesses under a single, unified family identity, BDK has been renamed under the Khimji brand. Accordingly, the Group’s engineering and industrial valve business, formerly known as BDK, now operates as Khimji Flow Equipments Pvt. Ltd. It is the continuation of the same organisation, the same manufacturing facilities, the same engineering expertise, and the same commitment to quality under a new corporate identity that reflects the Khimji family’s century-old business heritage. This is not the creation of a new company nor a departure from the legacy of BDK.
The name has changed, but the legacy remains unchanged. The values that built BDK engineering excellence, innovation, uncompromising quality, ethical business practices, customer trust, and technical leadership continue to define Khimji Flow as it carries forward the vision established by Shri Bharatbhai Khimji.
The Khimji family’s entrepreneurial journey in Hubballi began in 1905, when Shri Bharatbhai’s grandfather established a cotton business, laying the foundation of a business legacy spanning more than a century. His father, Shri Bhanji D. Khimji, expanded the family’s industrial footprint by establishing a cotton ginning and pressing unit. Over successive generations, the Khimji family became an integral part of Hubballi’s industrial and economic development.
Born in 1942, Shri Bharatbhai Khimji entered the engineering industry by joining Akay Industries, founded by his elder brother, Shri Hiralal Khimji. During India’s rapid industrialisation in the 1960s and 1970s, he recognised the country’s growing need for dependable, world-class industrial valves manufactured in India.
In 1975, he founded BDK (Bhanji D. Khimji) as a tribute to his father. Under his leadership, BDK became one of India’s leading industrial valve manufacturers, recognised globally for precision engineering, technological advancement, and uncompromising quality. Over the decades, the company supplied critical valve solutions to refineries, petrochemical plants, power stations, fertiliser complexes, steel plants, chemical industries, and oil & gas projects across India and overseas.
Today, that legacy continues under Khimji Flow Equipments Pvt. Ltd. As part of the Khimji Group’s unified corporate identity, BDK has been renamed Khimji Flow, ensuring that the engineering excellence built over five decades continues under the Khimji name while preserving the values, reputation, and vision established by Shri Bharatbhai Khimji.
